CAEA STORY

Pathway to Compass Aviation English Academy

Compass Aviation English Academy (CAEA) has been established after years of reasearch and refinement in the area of Aeronautical English development and radio-telephony communication.

Below is a timeline of some of the most important moments in its development.

CAEA Timeline

Early 1990's

CAEA Developer and Co-Founder, Peter Carter starts his ESL career in Untsunomiya, Japan and starts Tozai - Australian Education and Travel Services.

1995

The first in a series of ESL test books is published for Japanese working holiday makers.

1997

CAEA Developer and Co-Founder, Peter Carter is recruited to develop the Study Tour Department of Queensland College of English.

2000

CAEA Developer and Co-Founder, Peter Carter moves to Griffith University as the Academic and Professional Programs Manager.

1999

356 Students from Japan, separated into 3 consecutive groups attend a farmstay event for 1-week in the Gold Coast, Queensland.

2002

Alteon and the Royal Queensland Aeronautical Club enrol 6 students into a 5-week Aviation English program in Brisbane, Queensland.

2003

The United Arab Emirates Airforce Cadet Academy sign a 3-year agreement to send 110-students each year for a 10-week Aviation English program in Brisbane, Queensland.

2005

Peter Carter appears on Taiwan daytime television on behalf of Griffith University and the Airline Career Development Academy to promote Aviation English requirements.

2006

The Griffith University Aviation English Test is approved by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority and the GU Aviation English program is under development.

2007

BEAT Australia is established as an Aviation English langauge course development company based in Osaka, Japan.

2008

Contracts are signed for the delivery of an English language program at the Japan Aeronautical College, Rinku Town, Osaka to aeronautical engineering students.

2007

An Aviation English program is established for the Narita International Airport Corporation (NAA) by the Air Traffic Control Association, Japan (ATCA-J) in conjunction with BEAT Australia.

2009

BEAT Australia establishes the Japan Independant Network of English Schools (JINES) to extend the ability of local English schools to promote Aviation English.

2015

BEAT Australia establishes the Aviation English Club (AEC) to extend the ability of all aviation professionals the chance to gain access to professional English programs.

2018

BEAT Australia establishes the Compass Aviation English Academy in Osaka, Japan.

2022

Compass Aviation English Academy (CAEA) is taken under the umbrella of Tozai - Australian Education and Travel Services.

2023

Compass Aviation English Academy opens an office in Brisbane, Australia.

2016

Contracts are signed between the Japan Maritime Self Defense Force, Air Traffic Control Association Japan (ATCAJ) and Beat Australia for the delivery of an English language testing program to meet the requirements of ICAO Level 4.
